Woke athletes turned the national anthem into another battlefield in the American culture war.
The rest of America is fed up.
And ESPN just disrespected the national anthem in this disgusting way. The United State’s Men’s Hockey Team won the World Junior Championships defeating Sweden 6-2 in the gold medal game.
As awesome as that was, what happened during the medal ceremony was even more of a breath of fresh air.
The smiling players for U.S. hockey linked arms and belted out the “The Star-Spangled Banner” with the joy of victory plastered on their faces.
A welcome response, after years of watching athletes like former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and former U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team player Megan Rapinoe disrespecting the country and the military by turning the anthem into a spectacle to display their hatred of the country.
The pride the U.S. hockey players showed in America and the national anthem didn’t go unnoticed. Former ESPN anchor Sage Steele – who left the network over their vaccine mandate and attempts to stifle her free speech – posted on social media it was odd that ESPN wouldn’t post one clip of the Team USA celebrating their gold medal on any of their platforms.
It especially struck Steele as strange due to the fact that ESPN is one of the National Hockey League’s television broadcast partners.
“Crazy that CANADA’s top sports network @TSN_Sports chose to show this special moment from AMERICA’s junior hockey team after winning gold..but AMERICA’s largest sports network @espn chose to completely ignore it on all social media platforms,” Steele added. “Also crazy considering ESPN’s rights deal with the @NHL.”
Megyn Kelly also chimed in, telling the U.S. Women’s soccer team to drop the political protests and get on board with celebrating America if the players wanted to represent the stars and stripes in international competitions.
“Att’n USA women’s soccer – this is what is expected of you if you agree to wear America’s jersey. Otherwise LET SOMEONE ELSE DO IT. These boys show how it’s done. Listen up. God bless them and God bless America!” Kelly posted on X.
Sports are supposed to be a great unifier where teammates from all backgrounds come together for a common purpose.
Woke athletes and networks, like ESPN that cater to them, destroyed that concept by turning every event into a political statement.
The pride and patriotism on display from the U.S. Men’s Hockey team could mean that the tide is turning.
