FRIDAY, JANUARY 26 25 GOVERNORS BACK TEXAS GOV. ABBOTT  All but one of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s fellow Republican governors on Thursday signed a statement supporting his invocation of the Lone Star State’s “Constitutional Right to Self-Defense” the day before. The letter represented the governors of half the United States. The only Republican governor who did not sign the statement was liberal Vermont Gov. Phil Scott.  READ KATE COX TO BE FIRST LADY’S GUEST AT SOTU  First Lady Jill Biden invited Kate Cox, a Texas woman who unsuccessfully sued the state over its pro-life legislation, to President Joe Biden’s March State of the Union Address. The first lady and President Biden both “thanked [Cox] for her courage in sharing her story and speaking out about the impact of the extreme abortion ban in Texas,” the White House stated.  READ REALCLEAR POLLING: TRUMP ON TRACK TO BEAT BIDEN  According to polling data from several states, former President Donald Trump is likely to beat Biden in the 2024 election. The RealClear Politics national poll found that Trump is currently polling at 3.6 points over Biden, receiving 47.9% of the vote compared to the incumbent president’s 44.3%.  READ HOUSE DEM: BORDER CRISIS COULD COST BIDEN THE ELECTION  Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-TX, said the ongoing border crisis will be a major factor in deciding who voters cast their ballots for in the November presidential election. He said he meets Democratic voters who say they will vote Republican in 2024 because of the issue. It is in Biden’s “best interest politically to come up with a solution on border security,” Cuellar said.  READ CHICAGO AREA COUNCILMAN PRESSES WEALTHY TO HOUSE MIGRANTS  A city councilman raised the idea of wealthy individuals hosting migrants in their homes as a solution to the Chicago area’s ongoing illegal immigration crisis. “We do have a very affluent community, a lot of big homes,” he said. “What I would like to do is direct staff to create a sign-up sheet for individuals who would be willing to house migrant families.”  READ BEREAVED MOM SUES BIDEN ADMIN OVER MIGRANT MURDERER The mother of an autistic young woman who was killed by a suspected gang member reportedly allowed to enter the country illegally is suing two Biden administration departments. Tammy Nobles is seeking $100 million in damages. “If [officials] would have done their jobs, my daughter would still be here today,” she said. READ HUGE COALITION OF GOP LAWMAKERS CONFRONT EV MANDATE  A total of 120 Republicans signed a letter urging the Biden administration to withdraw its controversial regulations targeting gas-powered vehicles in favor of electric vehicles (EVs).
