Days later Michelle Obama appeared on a podcast saying she was “terrified” of the idea Trump could win and lamenting the fact that black and young voters didn’t feel inspired to turn out.
Washington was trying to make sense of what’s going on as the Obamas piling on as Biden trailed Trump in the polls didn’t seem to do a whole lot to turn the situation around.
On Outnumbered, co-host Kennedy said this was a coordinated effort on the part of the Obamas to install Michelle Obama as the nominee in 2024.
“She wants to run,” Kennedy stated. “So, this is her way — now that she’s talking about politics, if she were really concerned about the future and tenor of the country, she would be on the campaign trail with Joe Biden. She is just as concerned about him as she is about Donald Trump. This is her way of sending out a little canary into the coal mine to see if it lives, and I think this could be beginning of her campaign.”
Every poll shows Democrats would welcome a new candidate, as even liberals believe Biden is too old and unelectable. And there is little doubt Michelle Obama is the vast majority of Democrats’ dream candidate.
If Democrats sought to chuck Joe Biden overboard, it would have to be late enough in the Primary process where no other candidates could jump in the race and kick off a bloody and expensive battle.
But nominating a candidate at the convention in the summer means lining up someone that the whole party can agree on so the process doesn’t devolve into a fierce floor fight playing out on live TV.
Fox News medical contributor Dr. Marc Siegel agreed with Kennedy and said the location of the convention in Chicago – Michelle Obama’s hometown – provided a clue that the party planned to stage a coronation for the former First Lady.
“I think Kennedy is onto something here,” Siegel began. “By the way, the Democrat Convention is in Chicago, so that would be a great coming out party. The whole notion of saying, ‘We’re afraid of the other guy’ — by the way, she could mean, ‘We’re afraid of Biden, too. We’re afraid of him stumbling, not remembering what he’s saying.’ You know, she could be afraid of how presidential Biden is right now, plus her fear of ‘the other,’ Trump — I don’t particularly like that approach at all. I wrote a whole book on fear and fear-mongering, and how that’s not how to bring this country together. Talk about the issues: what about the border, what about the economy? You don’t want to talk about those things, so you make everyone afraid of the other guy,” Siegel concluded.
