Pope: Doing THIS Is ‘Despicable’

(RightIsRight.co) – Sharply criticizing a deplorable liberal trend for being a profound affront to the dignity of both women and children, Pope Francis has explicitly condemned the practice of surrogacy, advocating for a global prohibition of the procedure.
In a speech delivered to the Holy See, the Pope highlighted the moral and ethical concerns surrounding surrogacy, emphasizing that a child should never be treated as a commercial commodity. He described surrogacy as “despicable” and an exploitation of maternal need, insisting that children are gifts, not elements of a transaction.
Surrogacy is the process in which a woman carries a child for another individual or couple and has been a subject of controversy, with Pope Francis labeling it as “inhumane” in previous statements. While children born through surrogacy to homosexual parents are still eligible for baptism according to Vatican doctrine, the Pope’s stance remains firm against the practice itself. The legal landscape of surrogacy varies globally. Many European nations have outlawed it, while certain forms of surrogacy, including commercial arrangements, are permissible in some U.S. states. Altruistic surrogacy, where the surrogate mother receives no financial compensation, is legal in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, South Africa, Greece, and Iceland.
The U.S. surrogacy market was estimated at $14 billion in 2022 and is projected to expand significantly by 2032. Costs for individual surrogacy arrangements in the U.S. can range dramatically, influenced by factors like rising infertility rates, an increase in fertility clinics, and lifestyle choices.
High-profile figures like Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen have brought attention to surrogacy, often citing personal struggles with infertility. Actress Jamie Chung candidly discussed her choice of surrogacy, citing concerns about the potential career impact of pregnancy.
In his address, Pope Francis also highlighted other critical global issues, including the war in Ukraine, the conflict between Israel and Hamas, climate change, and the escalation of weapons production, framing them as major threats to global peace and stability.
