AZ HOUSE VOTES TO REPEAL PRO-LIFE LAW, EFFORT GOES TO SENATE The Republican-controlled Arizona House of Representatives voted Wednesday to repeal the state’s pro-life law which protects almost all unborn children. The repeal effort now heads to the state Senate – also controlled by Republicans – which can vote on it no earlier than Wednesday, May 1. The three Republicans who voted with the Democrats to repeal the law were state Reps. Tim Dunn, R-Yuma, Matt Gress, R-Phoenix, and Justin Wilmeth, also R-Phoenix.READ
TRUMP IMMUNITY CASE AT SUPREME COURT The Supreme Court heard arguments about whether a former president can be criminally prosecuted for actions while in office. John Sauer, attorney for former President Donald Trump argued before the Supreme Court that an adverse decision in the presidential immunity case would have “implications” that “extend far beyond the facts of this case.”READ
REPORT: NEW NPR CEO HAS TIES TO MIDDLE EAST REVOLUTIONARIESConservative scholar Christopher Rufo reported he has uncovered alleged evidence which purports that new National Public Radio (NPR) CEO Katherine Maher had connections to radical revolutionaries in the Middle East. “Katherine Maher helped advance Color Revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa, arguing that regime-change operatives could ‘govern a country’ by capturing radio stations,” Rufo wrote in an X post announcing his report Wednesday.READ
JESUIT UNIVERSITY’S HEALTH PLAN APPEARS TO COVER ABORTIONJesuit-affiliated Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, appears to list abortion on its student health insurance plan. The university maintains that it does not cover abortion. “[Xavier’s] plan not only appears to cover abortion – it looks like the school specifically added it into the coverage,” Hope College student William Hurley wrote in The College Fix Tuesday. “A ‘policy endorsement’ on the plan appeared to delete an ‘exclusion’ of abortion,” Hurley indicated.READ
42% OF DEMOCRATS SUPPORT DEPORTING ILLEGAL MIGRANTSAccording to a new Axios/Harris poll, a majority of Americans – including a stunning 42% of Democrats – support the mass deportation of migrants illegally in the country. Another surprising finding of the poll is that 45% of Latino respondents and 40% of black respondents indicated that they supported mass-deporting illegal migrants. Generation Z seemed to be the only age cohort strongly opposed to the measure, with only 35% of its respondents in favor.READ
NEBRASKA GOV. PILLEN SIGNS SCHOOL CHOICE BILL Republican Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen signed a bill Wednesday that would expand school choice to more of the state’s families. The Nebraska Examiner reported that the bill, LB 1402, “will devote $10 million to the state treasurer to distribute private K-12 scholarships to prospective students.” Both Pillen and the bill’s sponsor, State Sen. Lou Ann Linehan, R-Elkhorn, are Catholics. READ

OKLAHOMA ARCHBISHOP SLAMS STATE’S BORDER SECURITY BILLArchbishop Paul S. Coakley of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City released a statement on April 23 criticizing an anti-illegal immigration bill that he says unnecessarily criminalizes honest people. “[T]he new law inadvertently will target men and women who are living productive lives with their families, and subject them to jail time, large fines and deportation within 72 hours, separating them from their children,” the archbishop claimed.READ
