(Patriot.Buzz) – For his efforts to use the race card to attack job-creating businesses, prominent black conservatives have blasted Joe Biden for being a bigot.

Biden’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is taking advantage of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin, in its recent legal move

Relying on Title VII, the EEOC sued convenience store chain Sheetz for its hiring practices. However, politicians and legal experts have pushed back against the EEOC’s stance.

“The Democrats think everything is racist, even a business choosing not to hire individuals with a criminal record,” Republican Utah Congressman Burgess Owens stated.

“If Joe Biden wants to end racial discrimination, he should confront his own soft bigotry of low expectations and drop this ridiculous lawsuit immediately,” he concluded.

Hans A. von Spakovsky of the Heritage Foundation criticized the claim as unfounded and recalled a similar unsuccessful EEOC case from 2014 against Kaplan Higher Education Corporation.

“They’re wrong. When they tried to do this a decade ago they lost,” von Spakovsky remarked.

He further remarked the practical risks businesses like Sheetz face: “The reason this is so ridiculous is this … particularly Sheetz. Think about what would happen if they hired an ex-con to work the cash register … Their liability would go through the roof.”

“The EEOC is using a dubious legal theory that they have no basis for through the law. It makes perfect sense for Sheetz to screen applicants for criminal history,” Von Spakovsky concluded.

Responding to the Biden administration’s allegations, Sheetz firmly denied any discriminatory practices. “Sheetz does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Diversity and inclusion are essential parts of who we are,” said Sheetz PR manager Nick Ruffner.

The core of the EEOC’s case is that Sheetz’s employment screening for criminal backgrounds discriminates black and indigenous people under Title VII’s disparate impact rule.

However, the EEOC then backtracked, “The lawsuit does not allege that Sheetz was motivated by race when making hiring decisions.”
