OLYMPIC FAIL

Artists should be outraged at the LGBTQ+, aka Letter People, aka Alphabet Mafia responsible for parodying Leonardo DaVinci and The Last Supper masterpiece turning it into a living nightmare during the opening of the Olympics. One company pulled its advertising.

Thomas Jolly, the creative director of the Olympic’s opening ceremony, denied the scene was DaVinci’s depiction of The Last Supper and instead titled it “Festivity” based on a painting called the Feast of Dionysus. He posed gay and trans actors in celebration of Greek gods and goddesses. In either case, he successfully communicated our current culture of sin and depravity.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, this charade doesn’t surprise me. Just as you can expect to find prostitutes in a brothel or gamblers in a casino, so we find sinners in our culture. We are witnessing a world that Romans 1:25 said would worship the creature rather than the Creator.

Instead of anger, I feel sad for Jolly and the actors involved in this ridiculous display because if they don’t repent and seek the mercy of God, they will face the judgment of God.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” (Galatians 6:7)

But Gary, if there is a God, He didn’t punish them for mocking Him or celebrating sexual perversion so it must be ok. Wrong. God is “patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

Instead of being angry, Christians should pray for the salvation of these poor people. Leave vengeance to God. Romans 12:19 says, “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.”

Have you ever wondered why God allows evil in the world? Look at Psalm 73; the writer says that he envied the prosperity of the wicked because they amassed wealth and were carefree while the righteous suffered. It seemed unfair. But verse 16-18 says,

“When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny. Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin.”

Their final destiny is hell. Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)

The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death.” There will be a future judgment day in which unbelieving sinners will be judged for their sinful deeds. (Revelation 20)

But born-again Christians won’t be at that judgment because their death sentence has been settled out of court. You see, Christians who have accepted Jesus Christ’s payment for their sin on the Cross of Calvary are promised eternal life with Him. Salvation is a gift that must be received by faith.

Don’t put it off. Today is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
