Two Olympic Broadcasters Attacked In Paris

Two Olympic Broadcasters Attacked In Paris

On Monday afternoon, two Olympic broadcasters from Australia were attacked during an attempted robbery after they arrived in Paris to cover the upcoming Olympic games.

The broadcast staffers, who work for Australia’s Nine Entertainment, were not identified in the reports. Nine Entertainment has reported that its employees were attacked by a “group of people” as they were walking to their lodgings in Le Bourget, a northeastern municipality in Paris.

The thieves, who attempted to steal their backpacks, were curiously not identified or described in any way — which lends further credence to the theory that they were migrants, as the woke media in France has largely tried to downplay the prevalence of migrant crime in Paris. The thieves reportedly fought with the two broadcasters when they refused to hand over their backpacks. The attempted robbery was reported to the French Police and the people in charge of Australia’s Olympic team, Anna Meares.

“It was clear it was a robbery because they went for the backpacks. There was no weapon used, but there was quite a significant assault,” Nine Entertainment reporter Christine Ahern stated during a Wednesday radio interview about the incident.

“The two workers managed to get away, but obviously it’s a worry,” she added, describing the victims as “okay” but “shaken up” from the incident.

The network’s sports director, Brent Williams, also spoke about the attack, stating that the attempted robbery had a “serious physical nature.” Williams also sent an internal memo warning his colleagues in Paris to take caution while traveling during the Olympics.

This is not the first crime committed against an Australian in Paris ahead of the events, as less than 48 hours before the staffers were assaulted, a 25-year-old Australian woman was reportedly gang-raped by “five men of African appearance.” She was in a nightclub district at the time of the attack and was later found in a “stunned state” outside of a kebab shop wearing her dress on backward, which was “partially torn off,” according to Australia’s News.com.

Upon viewing CCTV footage from outside of the shop, police saw the terrified woman seeking shelter inside the kebab shop after the assault, where one of her alleged rapists approached her and patted her on the back before being driven off by one of the shop’s customers.

“It sounds horrific,” Meares said of that assault. “Obviously, our hearts go out to the woman involved, and we hope she’s been cared for and supported in the trauma that she’s experienced.”

Australian officials have warned their citizens who are in Paris for the Olympics to exercise extreme caution while outside, also advising them not to travel alone or wear their uniforms in public.
