Pennsylvania Prof: 'Meritocracy' is 'Whiteness Ideology'

"You didn't build that."

Another day, another example of social justice irrationality and anti-white racism.
This time it's Pennsylvania State University-Brandywine professor Angela Putman, who published an academic article late last week in which she criticized her students’ belief in “meritocracy” and “hard work.” You read that right.
Campus Reform reports that Putman, who teaches public speaking at Penn State-Brandywine, had designed a comprehensive three-day seminar on “white privilege” for her students (of course she did -- lecturing students on their white privilege is just what professors do these days). She then interviewed 12 attendees on their belief in the “whiteness ideologies” of meritocracy and equal opportunity.
Putman was disturbed to discover that these were widely endorsed by students, many of whom foolishly agreed that “if I work hard, I can be successful” and that “everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve success.”
Putman argued that meritocracy was only a social construct, and that students “are socialized to believe that we got to where we are… because of our own individual efforts,” especially in classroom settings. In other words, as Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren would put it, "You didn't build that."
“Whiteness ideologies may be reproduced through a general acceptance and unchallenging of norms, as well as through everyday discourse from a wide variety of racial positionalities,” she adds. Only a professor who specializes in the intellectually barren field of social justice would use such empty jargon as “whiteness ideologies" and "positionalities."
Putman believes that professors can help students reject their belief in meritocracy and equal opportunity through "intensive re-education." Shades of the Chinese Cultural Revolution!
Professors should teach students “how racism and whiteness function in various contexts, the powerful influence of systems and institutions, and the pervasiveness of whiteness ideologies within the United States,” she declares, recommending the use of “role-play activities” and “readings, discussions, films, and activities.”
Once students learn more about their white privilege, Putman hopes that they will “resist perpetuating and reifying whiteness through their own discourse and interactions,” and learn to fight “manifestations of racism and whiteness within U.S. institutions and systems.” Heaven forbid that students reify their whiteness through discourse, whatever that means.
According to her school biography, Putman’s research focuses on “whiteness as ideology, the pervasiveness of white privilege, institutional/systemic racism, and critical pedagogy.” In other words, she has absolutely no skill set or intellectual training useful for herself or her students in the real world.

'Good Morning America' Endorses President Trump’s Damnation

“You're going straight to Hell.”

The media continued its virulent attack on President Donald Trump this weekend, with Good Morning America’s David Wright enthusiastically taking part.
Mischaracterizing the President’s actions as a “fight he picked” with San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, Wright spun the story around so far that he accomplished a complete reversal. In fact, Cruz and Trump had initially exchanged amicably, with the President tweeting, “Thank you to Carmen Yulin Cruz, the Mayor of San Juan, for your kind words on FEMA etc. We are working hard. Much food and water there/on way.” Later, Cruz disparaged the administration, prompting the President’s response to her criticism.
You wouldn’t know that from the headlines, however. Ever intent upon painting Trump as the unhinged and irrational aggressor, ABC ran a story titled “What to Know About Carmen Yulin Cruz, the San Juan Mayor Slammed by Trump.” The Washingon Postasked, “Who is Carmen Yulin Cruz, the San Juan Mayor Trump Blasted?” The Chicago Tribune ran with “Trump Snaps at San Juan Mayor on Twitter After She Criticizes Response…” and “How Trump's Weekend at N.J. Golf Club Slowed Response to Puerto Rico Crisis.”
As for the golfing accusations, which were bolstered by Wright Sunday, completely overlooked was the fact that Trump held a Cabinet meeting—which included Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke, who oversees disaster response—in New Jersey last weekend, and that he had since been in Washington, coordinating with Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosello.
Furthermore, Rosello affirmed Friday that he was pleased with the federal government’s efforts, clarifying, “I have to say that the administration has responded to our petitions. FEMA, [FEMA chief] Brock Long, has been on the phone virtually all the time with me, checking out how things are going.”
Long himself on Sunday pointed out that governmental assistance to the Caribbean territory is “the most logistically challenging event the United States has ever seen.” Despite this caveat, the media is all too ready to declare every move of the Trump administration an exercise in failure and neglect. To this end, GMA’s Wright trumpeted a tweet referencing Mayor Cruz by Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the musical Hamilton. Wright fawned:
“And playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted: ‘She has been working 24/7. You have been golfing. You're going straight to Hell. Fastest golf cart you ever took.’”
Imagine ABC favorably showcasing such a message about Obama. Use all your imagination; you’ll need it.

WaPo Presents Children Regurgitating Media Lies

“Donald Trump doesn’t like black people and Hillary Clinton does.”

In an typical display of leftist political exploitation of children, The Washington Post put together a “Kids Chorus” of grade-schoolers in July for the purpose of mocking President Trump’s tweets while accompanied by bongo drums. In a similarly incendiary act, the Post’s magazine manifestation ran a story Sunday covering its interviews of third-grade students about President Trump and the loser of the practically year-old 2016 election, Hillary Clinton.
Culling from four elementary schools, Washington Post Magazine conspicuously had a difficult time finding children with anything good to say about Trump. However, the pro-Hillary contingent of 9-year-olds was in full effect.
Writer Britt Peterson asked the children what Trump represented—with regard to racism, police brutality, “inequality and privilege,” etc. As for Hillary, the Post wanted to know the students’ thoughts on sex discrimination and how long it might take us to elect a female president. You know—a fair and balanced approach.
In “The World According to Third-Graders,” Peterson began her presentation with some good old-fashioned leftist fear and loathing of our President, presented according to student and school attended:
Mason Felice, Bellows Spring: I’m scared now that Donald Trump’s president, because ever since he was president a lot of bad things have been happening.
Devonte Holland, DC Scholars: I think that Hillary should’ve won because people are saying that Trump cheated in the election because they said he was working with Russia or ISIS or something.
Ranaia Robinson, Robert R. Gray: Hillary was supposed to win. I mean, she didn’t hate Mexicans. Donald Trump did. She was acting like a grown-up. But Donald Trump just, I can’t even say about him. He’s mean!
Makalynn Dunn, DC Scholars: I would vote for Hillary Clinton because Donald Trump doesn’t like black people and Hillary Clinton does.
Further reflecting the terrible damage done by media lies, when asked what they would do if they were president, the children expressed particularly disturbing ideas concerning racism:
Jeremiah Richardson, Robert R. Gray: I would end slavery.
Marquale Ingram, DC Scholars: I would make slavery against the law, and, what I would do, I would let blacks and whites get along.
Newsflash to Jeremiah and Marquale: America ended slavery 150 years ago. If your teachers haven't filled you in on that, ask your parents to consider homeschooling.
Comments regarding differences between the sexes were predictably PC:
Romario Benjamin, Robert R. Gray: Girls are not weak, they’re a little bit more capable than boys at doing sports and stuff.
Ella Schneider, Georgetown Day: It’s sort of unfair that there are two different sports, baseball and softball, for two different genders. Because they’re pretty much the same thing.”
In praise of Hillary:
Surya Maroju, Bellows Spring: Even though she didn’t win, I think she struck hope in a lot of women’s hearts, and she wanted them to know they can do something, too, if they work hard and they really put thought into it.
And to cap it all off, this gem which really highlights the brainwashing success of the media:
Donte Gibson, Robert R. Gray: I don’t really understand climate change, but didn’t Donald Trump do it?

CBS’s 'Blue Bloods' Pays Tribute to Police Officers

Tom Selleck’s family-centric drama speaks sanity in the midst of madness.

Friday’s episode of Blue Bloods—the popular, long-running CBS drama about law enforcement and family—provided some much-needed relief from the anti-cop sentiment of the Left’s ever-increasing, ubiquitous rage against police officers.
According to Newsbusters, in the season 8 premiere, an off-duty officer has shot and killed an unarmed shoplifter during an assault against him. The officer, Kevin Olivet, then becomes the victim of hasty judgement on the part of the new, acting mayor—played by Lorraine Bracco—and subsequently, the city.
Despite the fact that Olivet has an excellent, 4-year record and has never before discharged his weapon, the media condemns him and smears his name, forcing him to resign. Eventually, an investigation finds the officer to have been in no breach of his duties, and that the shoplifter was high on amphetamines and cocaine during the attack.
In a meeting between the mayor and Tom Selleck’s Commisioner Frank Reagan, an apology comes too late. Franks delivers a moving speech in response:
“There's something you should know about police officers. They know what people are capable of in ways that most, thankfully, do not. They have seen firsthand the cigarette burns on an infant's back or the black eyes and the sideways jaw on an 80-year-old rape victim. And they assume the worst. And they take that on so that good people can go about their lives and think generously about their fellow man. They provide that luxury.”
In this climate of unfounded racial accusations and guilty-until-proven-innocent treatment of officers of the peace, those are powerful words to remember. Moreover, they’re particularly surprising—and encouraging—coming from CBS.

NBA to Players: You Must Stand for National Anthem

“Demonstrate your commitment to the NBA's core values of equality, diversity, inclusion and serve as a unifying force in the community.”

In 1996—at a time when sports organizations were more concerned about their fans than their allegiance to offensive political statements—Denver Nuggets point guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf sat in protest during the National Anthem, later citing the flag as a symbol of oppression. The result was a league suspension for the basketball player and a new policy requiring players, coaches, trainers, scouts, and other employees to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Fast-forward to the 2017 controversy in which the NFL is losing favor—and finances—as they lower themselves into a deepening well of toxic transgression in the eyes of the American audience, and we see a NBA reluctant to take the same suicidal plunge.
To this end, the National Basketball Association sent a memo Friday to its team presidents and general managers, reminding them of its long-standing mandate. Authored by Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum, the notice compelled teams to use the first games of the season — of which preseason games were to begin Saturday — to “demonstrate your commitment to the NBA's core values of equality, diversity, inclusion and serve as a unifying force in the community.”
Providing for a bit of expression prior to each game’s playing of our country’s anthem, the memorandum permitted players or other employees to speak to fans or show videos of players or others regarding “the issues they care about.”
Concerning any act of rebellion toward the regulation, the letter stated, “The league office will determine how to deal with any possible instance in which a player, coach or trainer does not stand for the anthem. (Teams do not have the discretion to waive this rule).”
Given the backlash of the NFL’s allowance—and even support—of those refusing to stand for America’s greatest statement of patriotism set to music, the NBA is clearly taking a preemptive approach to any potentially detrimental slight toward its fanbase; and in doing so, it’s adhering to an idea that seems increasingly absent in our leftist-dominated, politically radical media culture:  entertainment is supposed to be escapist fun for the masses.

Hillary Keeps Campaign Donations Tied to Underage Prostitution

Hillary’s linked to a sex scandal - and for once, it doesn’t involve Bill.

After news of a Democratic contributor being linked to underage prostitution began percolating in the national news recently, left-wing politicians commenced to giving away their received donations to charity. One figure who has so far refused to let go of those funds is none other than disgraced Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.
As the Washington Free Beacon notes, Jim Larkin and Mchael G. Lacey, co-owners of Backpage—a classifieds website—gave thousands of dollars to the Democratic Party in recent years. The online business found itself beset by trouble in 2012, after Arizona State University and the Phoenix Police Department determined that 80% of the postings in its adult section involved prostitution, including ads for underage girls. Beginning a slow burn for the site, that study eventually resulted in the National Asociation of Attorneys General petitioning Congress in 2013 to change federal law in order to stifle sex trafficking and hold Backpage and similar companies accountable.
Subsequently, legislation arrived in 2014 to punish companies that knowingly advertise sexual activity involving minors. In 2016, the Senate passed a resolution to hold Backpage in contempt of Congress for not complying with a subpoena requiring them to supply documented proof of their efforts to prevent illegal ads from being placed on their site.
As the online forum gained growing negative attention, politicians who’d received donations from Larkin or Lacey started dropping the dead political weight: Senator Kamala Harris (California), unloaded the money she’d garnered; David Garcia, an Arizona gubernatorial candidate, donated his funds to homeless youth and sex trafficking charities; former Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick promised this week to gift her received contribution to the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual Domestic Violence.
On July 26, 2016, Jim Larkin gave $5,400 to the Hillary Victory Fund. The money was then sent via that joint fundraising effort to Hillary for America, the former First Lady’s official campaign committee. So far, there’s no news of Clinton returning the money, or pledging to relinquish it to some public-relations-friendly nonprofit.
Until then, the failed candidate remains in possession of funds mired in a controversy of child trafficking, prostitution, and underage sex.

New Book Spotlights Leftist Brainwashing in Public Schools

“Political bias…has turned many public schools into indoctrination centers.”

Readin', writin', 'rithmetic, and Progressivism are what’s on the docket for gradeschoolers these days, according to a new book by Lance Izumi as reported by The Washington Free Beacon.
In The Corrupt ClassroomIzumi asserts that, in addition to academic aspirations, freedom from radical indoctrination is an increasingly important reason to push for school choice: "Many parents, for example, are rightly concerned about the growing politicization of the classroom. Far from being mere anecdotal incidents—and there are lot of those—political bias is becoming systemic in public school systems and has turned many public schools into indoctrination centers for progressive ideologies and causes.”
In defense of his argument, Izumi—Senior Director of the Pacific Institute’s Center for Education—points to the United Educators of San Francisco, who distributed to its 6,000 members an anti-Trump lesson plan, in which the President was called a “racist and sexist man.” Reports within the propagandist publication were sourced only from left-wing organizations, and instructions therein were to tell students, “We will keep fighting,” and, “We must and will fight for justice against an unjust system and an unjust people.”
Among many other examples, the book references one teacher displaying a photo of President Trump in the classroom and then yelling, “Die!”
As part of this leftist takeover, there are cultural ramifications as well, particularly in the area of sexuality. A school in Fremont, California, Izumi says, supplied a textbook instructing ninth-graders on the use of vibrators, the practice of oral sex and bondage, and the implementation of sexual techniques for heightened pleasure.
Aptly advocating for parents’ rights and school choice, Izumi asserts: "A public school might have decent test scores, but if parents feel their children are being politically indoctrinated…then parents and their children should have the right and the tools to exit the public school system for educational alternatives that better meet their needs and preferences.”
This is an issue that the Freedom Center's own David Horowitz has been battling literally for decades. To read more about that, check out his newest book, The Left in the University, volume 8 of his collected writings known as The Black Book of the American Left.
