“Political bias…has turned many public schools into indoctrination centers.”

Readin', writin', 'rithmetic, and Progressivism are what’s on the docket for gradeschoolers these days, according to a new book by Lance Izumi as reported by The Washington Free Beacon.
In The Corrupt Classroom, Izumi asserts that, in addition to academic aspirations, freedom from radical indoctrination is an increasingly important reason to push for school choice: "Many parents, for example, are rightly concerned about the growing politicization of the classroom. Far from being mere anecdotal incidents—and there are lot of those—political bias is becoming systemic in public school systems and has turned many public schools into indoctrination centers for progressive ideologies and causes.”
In defense of his argument, Izumi—Senior Director of the Pacific Institute’s Center for Education—points to the United Educators of San Francisco, who distributed to its 6,000 members an anti-Trump lesson plan, in which the President was called a “racist and sexist man.” Reports within the propagandist publication were sourced only from left-wing organizations, and instructions therein were to tell students, “We will keep fighting,” and, “We must and will fight for justice against an unjust system and an unjust people.”
Among many other examples, the book references one teacher displaying a photo of President Trump in the classroom and then yelling, “Die!”
As part of this leftist takeover, there are cultural ramifications as well, particularly in the area of sexuality. A school in Fremont, California, Izumi says, supplied a textbook instructing ninth-graders on the use of vibrators, the practice of oral sex and bondage, and the implementation of sexual techniques for heightened pleasure.
Aptly advocating for parents’ rights and school choice, Izumi asserts: "A public school might have decent test scores, but if parents feel their children are being politically indoctrinated…then parents and their children should have the right and the tools to exit the public school system for educational alternatives that better meet their needs and preferences.”
This is an issue that the Freedom Center's own David Horowitz has been battling literally for decades. To read more about that, check out his newest book, The Left in the University, volume 8 of his collected writings known as The Black Book of the American Left.
