A Canadian Catholic group is encouraging people to pray the Rosary to combat COVID tyranny. Church Militant's Aidan O'Connor tells us about an upcoming Rosary rally in Canada's capital.
Only a few weeks ago, the eyes of many were directed to a massive, weeks-long trucker protest in Ottawa.
That movement inspired a Catholic effort. A lay Catholic group, the Saint Joan of Arc Community, is announcing The Great Canadian Rosary Convoy. The prayer rally is scheduled for March 19, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, who is also the patron saint of Canada.
Despite recent accusations of police brutality in Ottawa, rally organizer John Pacheco doesn't think security is a problem.
John Pacheco: "We're not doing anything illegal. We're just exercising our constitutional rights of freedom of assembly, so I'm hoping we're not going to have any trouble."
The Canadian bishops, he says, have not been on the side of citizens. Instead, they're in lockstep with repressive government actions.
Pacheco: "They have taken sides — a lot of them encouraging people to get vaccinated when they have no competence or authority to even do that because that's a prudential judgment on the part of individual Catholics. But this so-called encouragement can turn into harassment."
Pacheco likens the bishops' response to a health cult that has infiltrated the Church in Canada.
Pacheco: "The masks are the sacramental and the vaccines are the sacrament, and I don't think that is an overstatement at all. Where we have the sacramentals and the sacraments to unite the Body of Christ, we have the masks and the vaccines that divide it."
In many places, the laity have felt abandoned by their priests and bishops. But prayer rallies like this help people remember that God is in charge and Our Lady's immaculate heart will triumph.
Organizers say that a procession is planned and no public disruptions will occur during their rally. They encourage all participants to follow the laws and fully cooperate with police.
