Spike In Tuberculosis Cases Hits New York City

Reports suggest that New York City is witnessing a sudden increase in tuberculosis cases, raising concerns about a potential resurgence of the disease in the United States.

According to The Daily Mail, data indicates that New York City has seen approximately 500 newly diagnosed tuberculosis cases in 2023, marking a 20% rise in cases compared to the same period last year.

The incidence of tuberculosis (TB) in the city has reached its highest levels in over a decade, raising concerns about the potential spread of the disease to other regions. Several health experts have attributed this increase to COVID-19 fatigue, as more individuals are avoiding clinics and treatments.

Another potential factor contributing to the sudden increase in TB cases is the migrant crisis in New York City. Over 100,000 migrants have arrived in the city since spring, and a significant portion of them lack the necessary vaccinations that could help reduce the risk of contracting the disease.

Elizabeth Lovinger, who serves as the health policy director at Treatment Action Group, a public health advocacy organization specializing in TB, said, “When there are particularly high spikes in TB and other infectious diseases in New York City, that tends to be kind of a bellwether for the rest of the country.”

TB experts are particularly troubled by the situation in New York City, as there has been a significant reduction in efforts to combat the disease since its last major outbreak in the early 1990s.

Budget cuts from the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control could lead to another increase in cases in New York City. The disease has been relatively rare in the U.S. since its surge during the AIDS epidemic, but it remains a significant cause of death worldwide, particularly in less developed nations.

Tuberculosis is caused by bacteria that can spread through the air and become life-threatening without proper treatment.

Migrants could be both vulnerable to developing the disease and potential carriers of it. However, as of now, the city has not announced any measures to address the increase in cases.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib glosses over Hamas murder of children and elderly, instead placing blame on Israel for ‘occupation’ as root cause of terror.

After initially staying silent after a massive terror incursion into Israel which left at least 700 people in Israel dead, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) released a statement condescending “Israeli apartheid,” which ignored the atrocities committed by Hamas.

“I grieve the Palestinian and Israeli lives lost yesterday, today, and every day. I am determined as ever to fight for a just future where everyone can live in peace, without fear and with true freedom, equal rights, and human dignity,” Tlaib said in a media statement on Monday.“The path to that future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation, and dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance,” she continued, appearing to blame Israel for the Hamas attack.

“The failure to recognize the violent reality of living under siege, occupation, and apartheid makes no one safer. No person, no child anywhere should have to suffer or live in fear of violence. We cannot ignore the humanity in each other,” she added.

“As long as our country provides billions in unconditional funding to support the apartheid government, this heartbreaking cycle of violence will continue.”

Tlaib, who is Palestinian-American, never mentioned the Hamas terror group’s unprecedented slaughter of civilians, nor that the organization is guilty of committing war crimes. Rather, Tlaib framed the conflict as part of the so-called “cycle of violence,” which places responsibility upon Israel for terror.

The Israeli advocacy group AIPAC responded to Tlaib’s statement on the X social media platform, noting her choice to ignore Hamas’ massacre of families and the elderly, while explicitly slamming the Jewish State.

“Hamas killed over 700 Israelis and kidnapped 100+, including kids, yet Rep. Rashida Tlaib outrageously condemns Israel and ignores Hamas,” AIPAC wrote.

“This statement shows how extreme and detached Tlaib and her fringe anti-Israel allies are from the rest of America, Congress and the Democratic Party.”

Castro Warns Against Unauthorized Military Strikes in Mexico

(RightWing.org) – Every day, Mexican cartels illegally ship enormous amounts of deadly drugs like fentanyl — often mixed into other products like oxycodone, unbeknownst to the buyers — across the border and into America. They are also known to bring military-grade guns to distribute on the streets and kidnap girls and young women in their human trafficking plots.

An idea that is gaining more traction with Republicans is to use the US military to target and take out what in reality is a blight on the world. Democrats are unsurprisingly opposed to this, and one has drafted a proposed resolution that he believes would preempt any president from going through with this plan.

Oh No You Don’t!

Rep. Joaquin Castro’s (D-TX) measure would put on the record the House of Representatives’ “commitment to respecting the sovereignty of Mexico and condemning calls for military action without their government’s consent and congressional authorization.” It is his interpretation of several treaties covering the Americas as a whole and statutes within the United States that any military intervention would be illegal, absent an act of aggression against our borders. Castro further asserts that any unilateral military action could be seen as “an act of war,” in addition to being an infraction of the treaties and therefore, of international law. He makes the grand concession that the president can act to repel attacks but claims that the flood of “fentanyl and related chemical compounds” doesn’t count.

There are Republicans who favor strong actions to protect the borders of the United States proactively and, if necessary, that would include going after the cartels that act as their own little kingdoms outside the control of the Mexican government. For example, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held nothing back when he responded to moderator Martha MacCallum at the first Republican to debate (according to a transcript) in Milwaukee on August 23 when she asked if he would be in favor of sending “US [sic] special forces… to take out drug cartel operations.”

In an unusual moment of clarity for a politician seeking votes, DeSantis simply answered in the affirmative and said he would do it on “day one.” He went on to say he would treat them no differently than groups like Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and other “foreign terrorist organizations.”

Other candidates, such as former Vice President Mike Pence would be open to using the country’s military might, but in a partnership with the Mexican military. He stated that he and former President Donald Trump had convinced our southern neighbor to deploy their National Guard to the “border as never before.”

Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson would use the tools available to them as president in a less aggressive manner. Scott said he would complete the border wall begun by Trump and then use “military-grade technology to surveil our Southern border… and save 70,000 Americans a year.”

Hutchinson gave a similar response saying that he would use the armed forces “for intelligence-gathering purposes.” So, perhaps, not every Republican is a rabid warmonger foaming at the mouth like Castro and other Liberals are painting them to be.

(RepublicanReport.org) – Candace Owens is a conservative commentator known for sharing opinions that tend to ruffle feathers. According to Hollywood Life, the right-winger has defended former President Donald Trump and Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, in addition to arguing against the existence of white nationalism against Black people in front of Congress. She’s currently eight months pregnant and has two young children at home. Recently, she spoke at a college in New York where she stirred up some more controversy — and support.

On October 4, the Daily Wire reported that Owens stopped at the University at Albany during her TPUSA “Live Free” tour. During the discussion, a student asked her what she would tell a trans student at the college who felt “victimized by her presence” there. Owens responded, “Life’s tough, get a helmet, man.” She followed it up by saying she was “too pregnant for this.” Her glib response sparked applause from the audience while attracting some ire on social media. Owens said she wasn’t there to “coddle adults,” and if a 20-year-old feels “victimized” by her mere presence on stage, that is a failure of that individual’s parents.Those who supported the host’s words called Ms. Owens “brave” for speaking her mind, stating the students needed “that kind of straight talk.” Others said the host would “say anything for money,” and she is a product of what “happens when you ban books.”

The political commentator has made it no secret how she feels about the LGBTQ+ community, having recently been suspended for the second time from YouTube due to her rhetoric against it. In fact, Owens has called the “trans movement” “satanic” in the past. However, her recent comment at the university, although in answer to someone asking about a trans issue, seemed to center around toughening up for life rather than another bash at the community.
