Jerusalem Inspiration

In Judaism, nothing is done without thought.  Did you know that when eating a variety of foods in order to decide which food to make a blessing on first, one needs to categorize each food by ingredients and importance.  The seven blessed species, however, are automatically deemed more important and one makes a blessing on those fruits before others. Within the seven species, the order of blessings is determined by its proximity to the word 'land' in today's Bible verse.  This Tu B'Shvat share in the blessings of the seven species and all that grows in Israel by planting trees in the Holy Land! As an extra bonus, spend $100 dollars in the I365 store and we'll plant a tree for you.

The luscious grapes of the Holy Land by Eliyahu Alpern. Grapes are listed third in the list of the seven blessed species, and a blessing on grapes would be recited first, before that of any other non species fruit.
