'Artist' Collects Urine to Protest Trump

A lot of weird things qualify as art these days. Now joining those ranks, we have the trans "artist" Cassils who has collected 200 gallons of his own urine which is, somehow, supposed to really stick it to President Trump. Somehow, these gallons of urine are supposed to make a social statement about Trump overturning the Obama administration's executive order mandating that public schools allow transgender children to use any bathroom. The "art" piece is called PISSED. Because... he's pissed about it. And... "it" is about bathrooms. Just in case it was all too subtle for you.

He started collecting his urine in jugs shortly after Trump rescinded this order and now keeps the extensive collection in friends' refrigerators off-site. (Those are some solid friends.) The 200 gallons, once collected, were all put into a giant storage tank for the purpose of being on display. As though people want to look at containers of pee. Not only that, He thinks people want to watch. He tells The Huffington Post:

I will be facing the sculpture on a very, very high [platform] — probably like 10 feet up in the air, so you’re not eye-line with my crotch. I’m looking down on you. And behind me, is a grid of the 262 orange 24-hour urine capture bottles I used and they create another cube. There’s one space left, which is the one final bottle. So for the two hours of the exhibition opening, I will literally just be standing up there and pissing into the bottle if I have to piss. And at the end of the performance I will climb down and I will dump the urine into the cube and I will place that final bottle on the shelf. So it’s really about closing this piece down.

Yeah, that's something nobody wants to see. Except they might. After all, The Huffington Post calls it "powerful," and this "artist" is a 2017 Guggenheim Fellow and 2015 Creative Capital Awardee, which means the art world actually respects this person. 

He told the Huffington Post, "It's crazy that we have to go to these extremes, but this is the culture that we're living in."

It's really not. You can always just NOT pee in the name of art and our culture would be all the better for it.
