Don Lemon receives death threats from white nationalist
CNN anchor Don Lemon said he received death threats from a self-proclaimed white nationalist after appealing to President Trump to stop attacking the widow of a slain Army soldier, according to a report.
The black journalist was attacked on Twitter with several messages, including “F— you n—- can’t wait to stab your neck” and “U r a pile of rotting Dogs—-, racist, communist, socialist, Liberal moron ass—, I will find u U will pay. ill see u real soon,” TMZ reported.
The alleged user describes himself on Twitter as a “white nationalist conservative . pro gun anti islam anti terrorist anti leftist yes i HATE demorats,blm,antifa ,socialists. heavily armed racist.WLM.”
The report to the NYPD was made for aggravated harassment – but that the incident will likely be investigated as a hate crime, the outlet reported.
The screed appeared after Lemon appealed to the president to lay off Myeshia Johnson, whose husband, Sgt. La David Johnson, was killed along with three other Green Berets in an ambush in Niger.
Trump has been denying claims form the widow that he didn’t know her husband’s name when he made what he described as a “respectful” condolence call to her.
Lemon delivered an emotional plea to the president on the air, asking him to “please stop.”
“Think of what Sgt. Johnson would want,” he said. “You are putting his widow in the terrible position of having to fight for her dignity when she should be concentrating on taking care of herself, her health, her two children, and the one on the way.
“Mr. Trump, please stop it. Please stop,” he continued.
“If Myeshia Johnson is mad at you, take it,” he said. “Just as President Bush and others did. Take it. It’s part of what you signed up for when you decided to descend that escalator and throw your hat in the ring for president.
‘You’re commander in chief, the president of the United States of America, the greatest country on Earth. Act like it.”
On Wednesday, Trump said his recollection of his phone conversation with the pregnant widow was more reliable than hers because he has “one of the greatest memories of all time.”
A message left with CNN was not immediately returned.
