    A very choice piece of history regarding the Traditional Latin Mass can be found in an article from the Latin Mass Society of England and Wales titled: "The 1971 English Indult - A Recollection". It's easy enough to find online. The article lists a great many of the players involved in what I would term a titanic struggle. What you might find most interesting is the list of non-Catholics who sided with the Catholics who were trying to keep the Traditional Latin Mass alive. You'll read the words of John Cardinal Heenan and Archbishop Annibale Bugnini and ohers. This article ia an excellent primer for those who wish to study the history of the liturgical wars which began after Vatican II. Carve out some quiet time in your day if you're interested.

    Fast forward fifty-two years and experience what it feels like to get knee-capped by modernist bishops including the bishop of Rome. After a succession of popes - Pope St. Paul VI, Pope St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI - who graciously granted permission for the celebration of the ancient Rite we have now come to this. Just when Traditional Catholics were given more air to breathe and were allowed to grow in peace in one vicious fell swoop we find ourselves outcasts. The trauma is excruciating and this no exaggeration.

    Today I look back at the heroes of this war who fought valiantly for truth and beauty.with heartfelt gratitude. I pray that new heroes will join the ranks and press forward. And to our good and holy priests I say wear your birettas and maniples with pride and honor. You are priests forever in the order of Melchizedek. You have been called.
