Tipping Point Saturday Seven (2.24.24)"...rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer"It’s been an incredibly eventful week, but I feel as if I’m saying that every Saturday. It just goes to show how quickly our world is transforming as the news arrives, the nations align and the prophetic pieces fall into place. As usual, here is my “Saturday 7”—seven quick things for you to be thinking about over the weekend—along with links to the videos we have published this week. You can always leave questions in the comments below this post and any other Tipping Point articles or videos. We read them and catalogue them to potentially answer on one of our video shows. 1. Wisdom from ScriptureLet love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.—Romans 12:9-16 NKJV 2. Quote to Consider“Why should you get up spiritually and prepare for the Lord’s return? Yes, there should be some appropriate fear and concern if you are not ready, but that is not the main point for believers. Jesus told His followers why they should be watchful and ready: ‘Your redemption is near’ (Luke 21:28 CSB). That is not dreadful news; that is great news!” [from my book, Look Up!] 3. Pay Attention to This NewsAfter the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny last week, the United States has imposed sanctions on more than 500 targets in Russia. The sanctions include financial infrastructure, individuals and other entities that are helping supply Russia with technology and military equipment. The sanctions are the largest imposed on Russia since its invasion of Ukraine, and the announcement took place right before the two-year anniversary of the war. At the same time, the U.S. has also promised to announce new sanctions on Iran in the coming days because of Iran’s arms sales to Russia. Iran has been supplying drones and other supplies to help Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. 4. Comment of the Week“I never imagined that we would be discussing these things. It's extraordinary. It's amazing to me every day that we can zoom right past those satellites with direct access to God through Jesus Christ and call upon Him regarding our every need, if even daily moment by moment, breathe by breathe. What a wonderful Savior we have.”—Tipping Point subscriber M Criswell in the comments after Thursday’s Tipping Point Quick Hits. 5. Definition of the Week: ApostleApostle: A term originally used to refer to the 12 disciples who followed Jesus, along with (later) the Apostle Paul, who referred to himself as “an apostle of Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 1:1) and “an apostle to the Gentiles” (Romans 11:13). It comes from the original Greek word apóstolos which means “to send away” or “to send forth.” The early apostles were sent out with the mission of spreading the good news of Jesus. After its initial usage in the New Testament, apostle began to be used as a title applied to other prominent Christian leaders. In some Christian denominations today, church leaders may identify themselves as “apostles” according to the ministries outlined in Ephesians 4:11-13. 6. Link of the WeekIs the “Information Age” over? Is this the end of Hollywood? Late last week, OpenAI revealed video clips from Sora, its text-to-video tool. The photorealistic footage was breathtaking and took much of the design, photography and videography world by surprise. Everyone—from politicians to people in the creative class—are now warning about how difficult it will be to determine truth from fiction in this new reality. “Combined with the existing power of voice deepfake artificial intelligence (AI) software, the potential for politically-motivated video impersonation is more prevalent than ever,” this article claimed. Sora is invite-only right now but I expect fake videos of politicians and other leaders to flood social media in the coming weeks and months. 7.
