Pay Attention to This NewsYesterday, Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Israel’s military to begin working on a plan to evacuate civilians from the southern Gaza city of Rafah, before an expected Israeli military invasion there. Rafah is on the border of Egypt and has become a refugee camp of sorts for civilians who fled fighting in northern Gaza. But it’s not just innocent civilians there: according to Israeli officials, Rafah is one of the last remaining strongholds of Hamas. “It is impossible to achieve the goal of the war of eliminating Hamas by leaving four Hamas battalions in Rafah,” the office of the Prime Minister stated. “It is clear that intense activity in Rafah requires that civilians evacuate the areas of combat.” 4. Definition of the Week: GospelGospel: A word central to the Christian faith which literally means “good news.” It comes from the Old English word “god-spell,” which itself was a translation of the Greek word euangelion. That word is used 76 times in the New Testament and refers to the message of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the salvation He offers. One prominent use is Romans 1:16, in which Paul writes, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek” (NKJV). The first four books of the New Testament are also called Gospels—as in the “Gospel of Luke” because these books provide accounts of the life and teachings of Jesus and narrate the “good news” of His ministry. 6. Link of the WeekKim Jong Un, the unpredictable leader of North Korea, said this week that he has the legal right to annihilate South Korea and that his country’s southern neighbor “can be attacked and destroyed at any time.” Earlier in the week, the parliament of North Korea abolished laws that allowed for economic cooperation with South Korea. Most experts suspect these provocative statements and decisions are related to upcoming elections in South Korea. The U.S. is taking these statements seriously, however, and President Biden recently said any nuclear launch by North Korea would mean the end of Kim’s regime. 7.
