Here are a list of 6.0 magnitude and above earthquakes that have occurred just this week alone:
- 6.1 = Nuku’alofa, Tonga: April 17
- 7.8 = Muisne, Ecuador: April 16 (State of Emergency declared in some provinces; tsunami warnings issued)
- 6.1 = Champerico, Guatemala: April 15
- 7.0 = Kumamoto City, Japan: April 15
- 6.2 = Ueki, Japan: April 14
- 6.0 = Uto, Japan: April 14
- 6.4 = Port-Olry, Vanuatu: April 14
- 6.9 = Mawlaik, Burma: April 13
- 6.6 = Ashkasham, Afghanistan: April 10

Not to mention the Mount Aso, Japan eruption, States of Emergency declared in Ecuador, as well as many other tsunami alerts and potential volcanic activity that has increased in just this past week. As you can see, many of these earthquakes occurred in what’s known as the “Ring of Fire” region — a Pacific region known for the most active earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis.
