Most of the coverage, and the outrage, surrounding NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's decision to sit for the national anthem and then sound off about it to reporters has focused on questions of patriotism. But in the middle of his comments, Kaepernick also sounded off about both presidential candidates.
As NewsBusters is reporting, comments regarding one candidate are being covered while the other is not. Here is the transcript of the exchange, courtesy of NewsBusters.
KAEPERNICK: ... I think the two presidential candidates that we currently have also represent the issues that we have in this country right now.REPORTER: Do you want to expand on that?KAEPERNICK: You have Hillary who has called black teens or black kids super predators, you have Donald Trump who’s openly racist. We have a presidential candidate who has deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn't’t make sense to me because if that was any other person you’d be in prison. So, what is this country really standing for?
Then comes the analysis: how are the mainstream media outlets covering this? Well, The Associated Press wire service ran with comments about Trump being racist but made no mention of Clinton and prison. Same with many other outlets, as NewsBusters discovered.
A Google News search on [kaepernick trump "openly racist"] (typed exactly as indicated between brackets, sorted by date without duplicates) done at 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday returned 48 relevant items.A Google News search on [Kaepernick Clinton prison] (same parameters) returned four relevant results.
NewsBusters has even more analysis; check out the rest here. Suffice to say, this is yet another example of media bias, specifically of the media covering up for Hillary Clinton.
