YUGE news: President Donald Trump is officially running for re-election in 2020. The Trump campaign made it official with an announcement on their website, naming Brad Parscale as his campaign manager for 2020:
Mr. Parscale is a longtime digital marketing strategist for President Trump, first with the Trump Organization and then with the successful 2016 presidential campaign, who has continued to lead digital strategies for the campaign and the Republican National Committee.
In addition to focusing on building its infrastructure for the 2020 race, the Trump Campaign will be engaged in the 2018 midterm elections this year, providing candidates with general support, endorsements, and rallying the support of the political grassroots by engaging Trump supporters in districts and states.
President Trump filed his paperwork for re-election with the Federal Election Commission hours after his inauguration, but the naming of a campaign manager is a major step in taking the bid for a second term from the theoretical realm into the practical one.
In the video above, Parscale talks with CBS News about his strategy for winning: how he tested different ads on Hillary Clinton's deplorable comments and pushed digital ads into Wisconsin and Michigan in the dying days of the campaign in order to turn the traditionally blue states.
The announcement is possibly the earliest official announcement in modern times, coming 980 days before the next election compared to 582 days before e-day for Barack Obama's second run.
