'But my emails': Hillary Clinton takes swipe at Comey after IG report

X
Rest assured, the irony is not lost on Hillary Clinton.
The former Democratic presidential nominee responded to the Thursday release of the Justice Department’s Inspector General report on the handling of the FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server and address when she served as secretary of state with a stinging tweet.
The Inspector General’s report faulted former FBI director James Comey for his decision to publicly launch an investigation into Clinton’s email use that many cite as impacting the result of the 2016 presidential campaign.
“It was extraordinary and insubordinate for Comey to do so,” Inspector General Michael Horowitz wrote in his report, “and we found none of his reasons to be a persuasive basis for deviating from well-established department policies in a way intentionally designed to avoid supervision by department leadership.”
Specifically, Horowitz cited Comey’s decision to send a letter to Congress on Oct. 28, 2016, announcing that he was reopening the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private server without first consulting officials at the Department of Justice.

Clinton has remained steadfast that Comey’s letter helped tip the election in Donald Trump‘s favor.
“I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comey’s letter, on October 28th, and Russian Wikileaks raised doubts in the mind of people who were inclined to vote for me but got scared off,” Clinton said at a 2017 event titled Women for Women International.
Perhaps even more difficult to swallow for Clinton and her supporters, however, is the IG’s finding that Comey himself used a private email account while at the FBI.
“We identified numerous instances in which Comey used a personal email account to conduct unclassified FBI business,” the 500-page report states.
