During an interview on Thursday, CNN Political Director David Chalian warned Democrats that the impeachment vote held in the House on Thursday, will backfire immensely.
On Thursday, the Democratic controlled House of Representatives voted in favor of formally beginning the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump by a vote of 232-196. While the House did successfully pass the measure, they were unable to gain a single Republican vote and even two Democrats voted against it.
During the interview on CNN, Chalian gave a dire warning to the Democrats.

"This plays out district by district which is why some of those Democratic members of the House, the majority makers, who come from districts Donald Trump won in 2019, they voted with Nancy Pelosi on this today for the most part," he said. "And Republicans are pouncing to hang that vote around their neck because in their districts back home where Donald Trump won this idea of impeaching or removing him is not a popular one."

Chalian isn't the only one who thinks that the impeachment inquiry will backfire big time. On Friday, ITV host Piers Morgan stated that the impeachment inquiry will fire up President Trump's base which will guarantee him another win in 2020. The comments by Morgan were made in an op-ed written in The Daily Mail.
"I thought of this when Democrats launched their formal bid yesterday to impeach President Donald Trump – an old friend of Ali’s with the same penchant for trash talk and hitting people who hit him even harder," Morgan said while comparing the impeachment inquiry to the infamous "Rumble in the jungle" fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.
"The vote to authorize rules for the impeachment inquiry, in the Democrat-dominated House of Representatives, fell almost entirely along party lines, 232-196," he continued.
Morgan added: "But it was notable for two things: 1) No Republicans flipped and 2) Two Democrats voted against it."
The TV host went on to compare President Trump's impeachment inquiry to Bill Clintons. "The first point is significant because it indicates that so far, President Trump enjoys rock solid support from his own party in direct contrast to Bill Clinton at the same stage of his impeachment process in 1998 when 31 Democrats voted in favor of setting up a formal process for considering it."
"The second point is also significant because it shows Democrat leaders driving this impeachment don’t even have rock solid support from their own party for it," Morgan added.
Morgan went on to explain that, "whatever the truth, I remain far from convinced it’s an impeachable offense anyway."
Morgan finished with, "That will fire up his base, demoralize his liberal opponents and on the back of a surging US economy, and successful war on terror, virtually guarantee him another win."
