The House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol protest kicked off Tuesday with a panel interview of four police officers. When the chairman of the committee, Democrat Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, asked the officers what they wanted the committee to do about the events, their answers were consistent.

Officer Daniel Hodges: "You guys are the only ones we've got to deal with crimes that occur above us. I need you guys to address if anyone in power had a role in this."

Despite ample evidence of election fraud committed against President Trump, one officer pointed to the very purpose of the rally as cause for suspicion.

Officer Harry Dunn: "They literally were there to stop the steal. So when people say it shouldn't be political, it is."

Prosecution of Donald Trump seems to be the ultimate goal, regardless of what actually happened on January 6.

Officer Michael Fanone: "So the time, the place and the circumstances of that rally, that rhetoric and those events, to me, leads in the direction of our president."

In addition to tacit accusations against President Trump, one officer compared protestors to Islamic radicals.

Fanone: "As a police officer, a lot of these events happen in plain sight."

Hodges: "It was clear the terrorists perceived themselves to be Christians. I saw the Christian flag directly to my front. Another read, 'Jesus is my Savior, Trump is my president.'"

Several people died in the events on January 6, including Ashli Babbitt, an Air Force veteran who was shot as she attempted to break into the Capitol building. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a phony Catholic, claims she wants an objective investigation.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi: "January 6 was a day of darkness for our country. ... Our temple of democracy was attacked by insurrectionists.

But last week, she rejected two Republican congressmen, Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN) — both nominated by House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to serve on the committee.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy: "It's an egregious abuse of power. Pelosi has broken this institution — made it undeniable this panel has lost all legitimacy and credibility. And it shows exactly what I warned."

Claims of violent rhetoric coming from President Trump don't match reality, who explicitly told his supporters to act peacefully but patriotically as they confronted election theft.

President Trump: "We will never give up, we will never concede. It doesn't happen. You don't concede when there's theft involved."
