What Jeff Bezos is planning next will send a shiver down your spine

Advancements in technology are happening at breakneck speed.

And people have not fully dealt with the ramifications of that.

But what Jeff Bezos is planning next, will send a shiver down your spine.Big Tech has been under the microscope because of concerns regarding censorship, privacy, and screen addiction.

On the privacy front, billions of people around the world have willingly relinquished sensitive data to Big Tech firms that have not been entirely above board. For example, Facebook’s parent company Meta recently paid an eye-popping $725 million settlement for privacy violations.

Now Amazon is expanding a payment method where shoppers at Whole Foods can pay for groceries by simply waving their palms. The technology, called Amazon One, will be extended to all 500-plus Whole Foods locations around the country.

Amazon acquired Whole Foods in 2017 for $13.7 billion.

Fast Company reported that “Amazon One works by the user scanning their palm above a reader—in other words, it’s another form of contactless biometric authentication, like Apple’s Face ID. But instead of reading your face, Amazon One reads the lines and ridges of your palm and the unique vein patterns beneath it. This reading of deeper subcutaneous features means that someone can’t just photograph your palm and start loading up on costly cheeses at Whole Foods at your expense.”

Such payment methods increase convenience, but it also means that opaque multinational corporations are in control of sensitive data.

Whole Foods CTO Leandro Balbinot explained, “Since we’ve introduced Amazon One at Whole Foods Market stores over the past two years, we’ve seen that customers love the convenience it provides… and we’re excited to bring Amazon One to all of our customers across the U.S.”Amazon had to face security concerns regarding the voice-activated helper Alexa.

In order for Alexa to know when users need assistance, the device has to always be listening.

Upon reports that Amazon was supposedly sharing information with the CIA, Ellen DeGeneres put out a video making light of the whole affair.

The establishment wants people to think that it’s a big joke that their data is being viewed by alphabet agencies.

The Twitter Files dispatches proved definitely that Big Tech platforms are more than willing to play ball with the federal government at the expense of everyday users.Unmuzzled News will keep you up-to-date on any developments to this ongoing story.
