One of Jeremiah's most famous outcries occurs in the Temple courtyard.
Surrounded by people who came to offer sacrifices, he assails their false sense
of security that as long as the Temple building stands, Jerusalem can never be
overrun. Jeremiah mocks their false piety and emphasis on ritual matters while
ignoring the needs of others. Jeremiah cries out "the Temple of the Lord" three times in utter
dismay. What would Jeremiah say about the current state of the Temple Mount?
Not only is the Temple no more, but there is no freedom to pray, and mocking
and harassment of any non-Muslim is a daily occurance! Rabbi Yehudah Glick is
on a mission to ensure human rights for all faiths to safely visit and pray at
the holiest place on earth, the Temple Mount. Could his vision mirror the words
of the ancient prophet?
