But Hashem was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of His covenant with Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov, and would not destroy them, neither hath He cast them from His presence until now.

Shabbat Inspiration

Because of His everlasting covenant with the People of Israel, God has compassion for them. In Hebrew, the word for compassion, ‘rachamim’, comes from the word that means womb, ‘rechem.’ A mother always has compassion for the child she lovingly carried for nine months in her womb. We pray for God to have the same compassion upon His children, who He has lovingly carried for millennia. And when we show compassion to others, we emulate one of God’s Holy attributes. More than 70 years has passed since World War II and the Shoah, but thousands of people are affected by the horrors they witnessed and struggle to make it through the day. What better way to display love and affection than supporting the survivors still living among us and showing them they are cared for and deeply respected?

“Learned So Much More Than I Could Ever Have Imagined”

It’s great to hear from you and make new friends from all over the world. Please send me an email and let me know how you are enjoying Israel365 (don’t forget to say where you are from!).

I very much enjoy Israel365. I have learned so much more than I could have ever imagined. The media in the USA is so biased... One needs to be very vigilant regarding what is truth or fiction. Thank you. I live in Freehold, New Jersey. I am not Jewish. I am a Christian. I have a love for the Jewish people... Linda Puccio
