The Pentagon has confirmed that North Korea has launched a ballistic missile which traveled more than 600 miles, Politico reports.
Colonel Rob Manning, a Pentagon spokesman, said:
The missile was launched from Sain Ni, North Korea, and traveled about 1000 km before splashing down in the Sea of Japan, within Japan's Economic Exclusion Zone. We are working with our interagency partners on a more detailed assessment of the launch.
This is the 15th missile North Korea has tested in 2017 in addition to six nuclear tests. President Trump said he had a long discussion with General Mattis about it, and declared firmly, "We will take care of it." It is "a situation that we will handle."
General Mattis added more information (at 7:10 in the video), noting that the launch went higher than any previous missile North Korea has fired. "It is a continued effort to build a ballistic missile threat that endangers world peace, regional peace, and certainly the United States."
Trump then repeated, "And we will take care of that situation."
Check out the President's press conference above, reported by ABC, which covered much more besides the North Korean missile launch.
