Carl,
The legislative council at the University of California-Irvine voted to ban the American flag from flying in the student government’s main lobby because, they said, the flag was “an offensive weapon of nationalism, colonialism, and imperialism.”
The idea that we should be ashamed of America is preached in college classrooms everywhere, and banning the American flag is one way the left pushes this idea on students that America is evil. Too often conservatives let these displays go unchallenged.
I thank God that didn’t happen this time.
The Leadership Institute’s campus organizer for California, David Blair, rallied two conservative student groups at the university. He supplied them with flags, sign-making materials, and a plan to organize Americans in a successful protest on campus.

As a result, less than a week after the story broke, three members of the legislative council changed their votes and said they would not ban the American flag. The leftists lost.
No other conservative organization offers anything like this. Altogether, they support an astounding 1,942 conservative student groups.
The Leadership Institute breaks the liberal monopoly on college campuses and helps students to see conservative American principles in a positive light -- something the hardcore leftists try to tear down in class.
You see, when young, impressionable college students are targets of a constant stream of liberal indoctrination, they are much more likely to turn into liberals than if there is a feisty conservative group on campus providing the other point of view, shining the light of conservative principles...
... and proving that not all young people are leftists.
The ultimate goal is to have at least one conservative group on every college campus. It’s a long, hard, labor-intensive process, and it costs time and treasure -- but it’s effective!
This fall semester, their 35 field reps -- five more than they sent out last year -- identified over 67,670 previously unknown conservative students and organized at least 508 new groups to add to LI’s unique national network of 1,942 active conservative clubs.
That means:
- More campuses where liberals will no longer have a monopoly.
- More campuses where impressionable college students will see an alternative to the prevailing liberal propaganda.
- And more young conservatives will join student groups and fight back against leftists on their campuses – and potentially for the rest of their lives.
The problem is that 36% of students attend a college or university with NO Leadership Institute student groups. At these colleges radical, liberal academics freely get away with their hate-filled indoctrination. I'm working with the Leadership Institute to make sure EVERY campus has a home for conservatives because the status quo is unacceptable.
Your support of the Leadership Institute will have a major impact in the fight to decide the future of America.
For Liberty,

Ted Cruz
