Hawaii Volcano, Update, Kilauea, Puna Second Fissure Opens, High Danger ...

Residents in Puna’s Leilani Estates subdivision fled with little more than the clothes on their backs Thursday night after an eruption in Kilauea’s east rift zone created a fissure in the community, spewing lava into the air as high as utility poles, covering roads and nearing several homes.

As of this morning they are reporting the flow of magma has stopped last night about 6:30pm local time, after moving about 30 feet from the fissure. In one area right behind a home. Evacuation orders are still in effect because of the high danger of the sulfur dioxide gas in the air.

Update: A new fissure has formed with lava flowing. This happened earth this morning at about 1:30 am
