9-Year-Old Jewish boy Attacked on Brooklyn Street

9-Year-Old Jewish boy Attacked on Brooklyn Street

While the media obsesses over mythical, manufactured islamophobia, this is the reality of hate crimes in the past couple of weeks in NYC alone. The list is astonishing and the lack of media coverage is criminal.
A man was arrested in Brooklyn for shouting ‘Heil Hitler‘ at an identifiably Jewish man as he sat in his car.
Last week, the New York Police Department began circulating surveillance video of a group of preteens and teens who it says has carried out a series of recent anti-Semitic attacks in the area.
The incidents include a metal pipe thrown through the window of a synagogue in the Hasidic neighborhood of Williamsburg on November 3 during afternoon services on Shabbat.
The same day, police say, the group pushed a 10-year-old Hasidic girl to the ground. In a separate incident, the group also knocked the hat off a 14-year-old Hasidic boy.
The incidents took place just days after a number of synagogues and yeshivas were attacked in the same area.
Seven fires were set outside of Jewish facilities in South Williamsburg, and anti-Semitic graffiti was scrawled on another Brooklyn synagogue.
A suspect arrested in connection with the fires was later identified as James Polite, a former intern for then-New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, and a campaign volunteer for former President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential bid.

ORTHODOX JEWISH BOY ATTACKED ON BROOKLYN STREET

A 9-year-old Orthodox Jewish boy was randomly attacked by a stranger in Brooklyn in what police are investigating as a possible hate crime — the first of two similar incidents that occurred within an hour of each other, authorities said Thursday.
The boy was walking home with his mother around 6 p.m. Sunday near Throop Avenue and Walton Street in Williamsburg.
Without saying a word, the passerby approached and punched him repeatedly in the face before rushing off, police said.
The child suffered swelling and pain but did not need to be transported to the hospital.
Police on Thursday provided a photo and video of his attacker, whom they described as being approximately 14 to 18 years old and 5-foot-6 inches tall, with a medium build.
Just 30 minutes later, a second Orthodox boy, age 12, was walking home when he was approached by four or five strangers near Walton Street and Union Avenue — just over a block away from the previous attack, police and law enforcement sources said.
The group of men shoved the boy to the pavement and punched him before fleeing, law enforcement sources added.
He suffered pain to the back of his head and scratches, but did not require medical attention.
“Thank God they’re fine,” said the mother of the 9-year-old, when reached by phone Thursday. “We’ll let the authorities handle it.”
