Netanyahu: “What we see in Gaza is a small manifestation of a larger problem of radical Islam”
Netanyahu asks: “What will be the future of Islam? Will the moderates win over the radicals? Will there be a reformation?”
The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS shows that there have been many reform movements in Islamic history, and since reformers are generally dedicated to getting a movement that they believe has gone astray back in line with its core principles, the Islamic reform movements have been violent and intransigent, not peaceful.
However, Netanyahu’s statement here is one of the very few public acknowledgements that Israeli leaders, or any non-Muslim leaders, have made of the fact that what Israel and the free world faces is not a quarrel over land or some other political problem, but is at heart a religious war. That is an extremely positive development, as policies should always be based on reality rather than fantasy, and our policies regarding Islam and jihad have been based on fantasy for decades. Maybe this is a sign that things are changing.
