New York Democratic Rep.-elect compared her election victory to “establishing civil rights” and the United States landing on the moon.
During a news conference Friday morning outside the Capitol Building, the 29-year-old socialist was joined by several other Democrats to promote their “Green Jobs For All” plan.
“We’ve done it. We’ve dug deep and we’ve done what we thought was impossible. We went to the moon, we electrified the nation. We established civil rights, we enfranchised the country. We dig deep and we did it,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“We did it when no one else thought that we could. That’s what we did when so many of us won an election this year,” she said to silence from the crowd.
She then launched into a desperate plea for people to support the “Green Jobs For All” plan and said “people will die” if climate change is not addressed.
“This is not just about a green New Deal,” she shouted to the small crowd.
“This is about a New Deal for the United States of America because in every moment when our country has reached the depths of darkness — in every moment when we were at the brink, at the cusp of an abyss and we did not know if we would be capable of saving ourselves, we had,” she continued
She concluded: “This is about the fact that if we continue to allow power to dictate the quality of our air and water, people will die.”

Ocasio-Cortez has used several of her outlandish comments on Friday before.
On Thursday, the young Democrat said she feels like an “American revolutionary.”
Last week, she said “people are going to die” if her “Green New Deal” is not passed in Congress, which many have argued is nothing more than a Trojan Horse for the implementation of full-blown socialism in America.
“People are going to die if we don’t start addressing climate change ASAP”“It’s not enough to think it’s ‘important.’ We must make it urgent. That’s why we need a Select Committee on a Green New Deal, & why fossil fuel-funded officials shouldn’t be writing climate change policy.”
Ocasio-Cortez also recently found herself in hot water after she compared the migrant caravan swarming the U.S. border to Jews fleeing Nazi Germanyduring the Holocaust.
Roughly 500 migrants rushed the the port of entry connecting Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California on Sunday.
Several of the migrants were also seen throwing rocks at Border Patrol agents and troops, which resulted in officials shooting tear gas to force the migrants to head back toward Mexico.
Ocasio-Cortez condemned the U.S. via Twitter for defending the border from the caravan.
Ocasio-Cortez is also the same person who has struggled mightily to explain how to pay for the $218 trillion “Medicare for all” plan she supports, said it was a “no brainer” that President Trump should be impeached, and is in favor of eliminating the Electoral College.
