Urge Secretary Pompeo to offer asylum to Christian mother facing death in Pakistan
Dear Carl,
Asia Bibi is a Pakistani woman, a Christian, a wife, and a mother of five children. She has spent the last nine years on death row, condemned to die for giving a cup of cold water in Jesus' name to her Muslim co-workers. They accused Asia of defiling the vessel that held the water by drinking from it herself as an infidel. She was charged with blasphemy, found guilty, and sentenced to die.
After nine long years, the Supreme Court in Pakistan reviewed her case and acquitted her. But before she could be set free, riots broke out all over Pakistan in protest of her release. Her attorney fled the country for his own safety, and the Supreme Court got so rattled by the violence it is reconsidering its verdict of acquittal and is keeping her in custody.
Sadly, while a number of European countries have offered asylum to Mrs. Bibi, the United States has not. It's long past time for Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to offer asylum to Asia so she can have a place of refuge to live with her family.
Please contact Secretary Pompeo today and urge him to offer asylum in the United States to Asia Bibi.
