President Donald Trump has successfully saved an American from the jaws of death and brought him back home to be with his family.
As noted by USA Today, Trump announced this week that an American oil worker from Texas who was abducted in Yemen in 2017 had been reunited with his wife and children.
Danny Burch was kidnapped while in Yemen and has been reportedly sitting in a jail cell while the Middle Eastern nation has been locked in a civil war.
Yemen is a very dangerous nation, where al-Qaeda and other terror outfits are primarily located.
But after the Trump administration got involved, Burch was released and brought back to the United States.
“It is my honor today to announce that Danny Burch, a United States citizen who has been held hostage in Yemen for 18 months, has been recovered and reunited with his wife and children. I appreciate the support of the United Arab Emirates in bringing Danny home,” Trump tweeted from Air Force One earlier this week while he was traveling to Vietnam for a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“Danny’s recovery reflects the best of what the United States & its partners can accomplish. We work every day to bring Americans home. We maintain constant and intensive diplomatic, intelligence, and law enforcement cooperation within the United States Government and with,” Trump added in a second tweet.
Trump wrote in a third tweet: “…our foreign partners. Recovering American hostages is a priority of my Admin, and with Danny’s release, we have now secured freedom for 20 American captives since my election victory. We will not rest as we continue our work to bring the remaining American hostages back home!”
Here’s more from the USA Today report:
The State Department confirmed Burch’s release, saying he was freed last week. But officials declined to say when or where he was reunited with his family. The Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, controlled the area where Burch was seized, although it’s not clear why he was taken or by whom. The Yemen conflict has become a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia.Burch was living and working in Yemen at the time of his capture. He had married a Yemeni woman, and his wife told the Times that he disappeared “in broad daylight” after dropping their three children off at a sports club.Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Monday that the United Arab Emirates had played a key role in securing Burch’s release.“In 2017, U.S. citizen Danny Burch was taken hostage from Sanaa, Yemen. Today he is safe and secure, and is reunited with his wife and children,” Pompeo said. “The family has asked for privacy as they recover from this ordeal.”
Amazing to see that Trump stepped in and brought another American home.
