CATHOLICVOTE CALLS FOR COMMENTS AGAINST MARIJUANA BILL  Conservatives in D.C. are sounding the alarm that a new bill in Congress innocuously titled the “SAFER Banking Act” is actually a backdoor method of legalizing recreational marijuana nationwide. CatholicVote readers can write to their U.S. senators against the bill through CV’s Quorum platform, which allows them to quickly send a pre-written letter or put a message in their own words.  READ HOUSE GOP WANT TO REALLOCATE IRS FUNDS FOR ISRAEL  House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA, wants to divert some IRS funding for aid to Israel. "My intention and my desire in the first draft of this bill is to take some of the money that has been set aside for building and bulking up the IRS right now" and repurpose it for aid to Israel, he said. "They have about $67 billion in that fund and we'll try to take the $14.5 [billion] necessary for this immediate and urgent need.”  READ ADMIN: IT’S EITHER FUND UKRAINE OR SEND OUR TROOPS  Sen. Jack Reed, D-RI, suggested during a Tuesday hearing that if the U.S. does not send money to Ukraine, American soldiers will have to fight there. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin agreed. It “comes down to a choice between lending them the tools to do the job, or seeing young Americans facing combat,” Reed said. “I agree, Senator,” Austin replied.  READ MAYORKAS ADMITS PRO-HAMAS OFFICIAL STILL EMPLOYED BY DHS  Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas testified before a Senate committee that immigration officer Nejwa Ali remains employed by the Department of Homeland Security, although on administrative leave. It was recently discovered that Ali had posted a number of virulently anti-Israel comments on social media using an alias. She also posted explicitly pro-Hamas comments, supporting the terrorist organization’s goal of wiping Israel out.  READ OHIO CATHOLICS FACE THEFT, VANDALISM OVER ISSUE 1 Numerous accounts of theft and vandalism have been reported to police at Catholic schools, churches, and cemeteries across the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Dozens of Catholic properties have been displaying yard signs and large display signs opposing Issue 1 on the November ballot. Many of these locations have reported instances of theft of the signs and, in some instances, vandalism of their property. Consequently, Catholics celebrated one common day for all saints to ensure each would receive proper honor.
