The prophet Isaiah describes the time of the redemption when all of the
Children of Israel will be returned to its Land. Isaiah foretells that a banner
and shofar will muster the
scattered Israelites, and it will be manifest for all to see and hear. The
shofar also serves as a spiritual "muster" before the Jewish New Year, awakening
those who have been deaf to the calls of God to pray, repent, and return to Him
over the course of the previous year. The shofar, which is sounded every day in
the month preceding Rosh Hashana, calls to us to awaken from our spiritual slump
