Our greatest biblical heroes have combined their spiritual service of God with a willingness to physically fight for what they believed in and defend His honor. Abraham went to battle against the five kings, David was a brave warrior and we believe the Messiah will be triumphant in battle. This is not to say that Judaism glorifies war or conflict. Our greatest dream has always been Isaiah’s peaceful vision in today’s verse. The soldiers of the IDF protect and defend the nation at all times, and they need our support now more than ever.
