Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez seized on text messages released by the January 6 witch hunt committee between Justice Thomas’ wife, Ginni, and President Trump’s Chief-of-Staff, Mark Meadows, as an excuse to call for Justice Thomas’ impeachment.
“Clarence Thomas should resign,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. “If not, his failure to disclose income from right-wing organizations, recuse himself from matters involving his wife, and his vote to block the Jan 6th commission from key information must be investigated and could serve as grounds for impeachment.”
In these text messages, Ginni Thomas implored Meadows and Trump to contest the election results because she believed Democrats stole the Presidency from Donald Trump.
Justice Thomas took part in cases relating to the January 6 Commission, where he was a lone dissenter in rejecting the Constitution-shredding claims of the Committee.
But California Democrat Congressman Jared Huffman told Axios that impeachment was the Democrats’ only choice.
“I am surprised that anyone thinks asking him to recuse himself in the future is an adequate response, based on everything we know,” Congressman Huffman stated.
Congressman Huffman predicted that, much like the two impeachment hoaxes against Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi would eventually come around and support impeaching Justice Thomas.
“They were slow to come around to impeachment the first time [with Donald Trump], and then it became something that they just couldn’t deny,” Huffman added.
Democrats are looking at a Midterm wipeout.
And Democrats may decide that the Constitution, norms, and basic decency no longer apply, as Pelosi and her lieutenants could view impeaching Justice Thomas as their last chance to fire up a depressed base to turnout in the Midterms.
