DISNEY COPYRIGHTS THREATENED House Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks, R-IN, told Disney CEO Bob Chapek that he is working on rescinding Mickey Mouse’s copyright renewal, set for Jan 1, 2024, over the megacorporation’s campaign against a Florida law that bars teachers from talking about sex and “gender” with children below fourth grade. Banks wrote that given Disney’s opposition to the anti-grooming law, and Disney executives’ push to include “many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in its stories,” he cannot support an extension of its copyrights. DESANTIS VS. DISNEY Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-FL, floated the possibility that state lawmakers might repeal a 1967 law in response to Disney’s ongoing opposition to the Parental Rights in Education law. We can take comfort in knowing that God himself has shared and does share in our anxiety, and we can also look to Jesus to see how he dealt with it, in order to imitate him. So here are three tips that come directly from Jesus for dealing with anxiety. READ |

MID-LENT: BURYING IDOLS There’s an old Polish tradition of drowning a pagan idol or effigy of Winter on the middle Sunday of Lent. It’s an interesting way to commemorate the triumph of Spring over Winter, and in another sense, of the triumph of Christianity over paganism in Poland in the first century. Though open worship of pagan idols is not something we do these days (hopefully), we all have our “idols” which are not God himself. Mid-Lent is a great time to re-evaluate ourselves and see which idols are getting in the way of our progress toward Christ. Check out this great reflection on drowning our idols. READ |
