Dem Attacks DOGE Dividend: ‘We Are Not Giving Out Money’
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) supports reparations and student loan forgiveness, and has been one of many Democrats complaining about the Trump administration canceling funding for USAID and other ridiculous giveaways of taxpayer dollars. Despite supporting giving money to people based on race, forcing Americans to pay off people’s student loans, and using taxpayer dollars for things like gender studies in Pakistan, Crockett apparently does not think the American people deserve a refund of their own tax money.
President Donald Trump and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk have proposed the idea of giving roughly 20% of the money that DOGE saves back to the American people.
“We’re thinking about giving 20% back to the American citizens and 20% back to pay down debt,” Trump said on February 19 at the FII Priority summit in Miami.
Speaking with ABC News, Crockett decried the notion of the government actually helping the American people, attempting to push back on the argument from conservatives that it would be similar to the COVID stimulus checks.
“He’s not the one who had anything to do with the $1200 refunds that people had during the midst of COVID. That was done by a Democratic House and Democratic Senate,” Crockett claimed, referring to the COVID stimulus checks from the CARES Act that Trump did sign into law. “Right now, what they’re going to do is say, ‘Hey, we want to give you a refund but Congress won’t let us.’ Because they already know that there’s just no money for that.”
“The only reason that those refunds came before was because we were living in different times,” she added. “This was a time in which, hopefully, we won’t ever go through again. We had a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic.”
Crockett then proved exactly why the American people see Democrats as “out of touch.”
“So, no,” the Democrat stated. “We are not in the business of giving out money, and honestly, I don’t know what $5,000 will do for you.”

Social media users were quick to tear into Crockett for her shocking comments, with many ranting about how out of touch she was for not understanding what a $5,000 check could do for the average American.
“Her constituents have an average income of $37K per year. 16% of them live below the poverty line. I’m going to take a wild guess and assume she’s against the $5K payment because it hands a massive win to Trump. In which case she’s CLEARLY not concerned about her constituents,” one user noted.
