(StraightShooterNews.com) – Raising concerns among American motorists about safety and company accountability, Ford Motor Co. has announced a recall of over 240,000 2020-2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs.

While recalling a vehicle for safety concerns might not be uncommon, the sheer volume involved in this issue points to deeper systemic errors.

Ford’s massive recall involves 240,510 vehicles, including 216,563 Ford Explorers and 23,947 Lincoln Aviators.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that improperly secured seat belt buckle anchor bolts may not adequately restrain passengers during a crash.

Such a flaw increases the risk of injury in an accident, putting many owners who trust American engineering on edge.

Ford attributes this defect to a production oversight at the seat manufacturer, Lear. The affected vehicles were manufactured between October 19, 2018, and July 11, 2020.

The problem was first flagged after Transport Canada received a defect complaint, prompting Ford to begin an investigation in December 2024.

Thankfully, as of early February 2025, no accidents or injuries have been linked to this issue, offering a slight relief amid growing concerns.

One troubling aspect for owners is the noise from squeaks and rattles if anchor bolts are not secured properly.

Although fewer than one percent of vehicles likely exhibit these problems, Ford will diligently inspect all affected models.

Dealers will inspect and replace, free of charge, any components associated with faulty seat belt assemblies.

Unwavering safety standards demand that all vehicles undergo this inspection, ensuring peace of mind for valued patrons.

Despite the lack of reported injuries, Ford has seen four warranty claims and a customer complaint potentially related to the issue.

As a preventive measure, the company will mail owner notification letters by March 31, 2025, with instructions for owners to contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 using recall number 25S09.

While safety remains paramount, the fact that less than one percent of vehicles are

estimated to have the issue while 100% must be inspected, which highlights the inefficient, burdensome approach of government-mandated recalls.

For consumers who want their vehicles to protect their families while supporting American manufacturing, this recall serves as another reminder of the complex regulatory environment American businesses must navigate.
