Shabbat Inspiration

Judaism follows both a lunar and solar calendar. While the months are determined by the cycle of the moon, and the new month begins when the first sliver of moon reappears in the sky, the Jewish calendar also has a solar component. Each of the holidays must coincide with a specific season in Israel to reflect in the agricultural aspects of the holiday. Passover is the holiday of the spring, Shavuot celebrates the wheat harvest and the beginning of the fruit harvest, and Sukkot is celebrated at the end of the harvest of the crops and fruits.

Celebrating the New Month as in Days of Old

To commemorate the special nature of the beginning of the Hebrew month of Adar, the Temple Institute, in conjunction with the Sanhedrin and other Temple organizations, held a reenactment of the service as it would have been performed in the Temple.

City of David, Priestly Blessing Necklace

This Priestly Blessing Sterling Necklace and Pendant is uniquely designed and engraved with the priestly blessing in both ancient Hebrew lettering as well as the modern Hebrew lettering we would recognize today. Inspired by the findings of an actual archaeological find of a silver scroll with verses from the Birkat Kohanim, the priestly blessing.
