And they shall say: This land that was desolate is become like Gan Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited. Ezekiel 36:35 (The Israel Bible™)

Shabbat Inspiration

Did you know that in Jewish tradition we place rocks in lieu of flowers on a new grave? The reason for this is because flowers die, while stones are eternal and represent the lasting soul. Stones are also for building, and show our determination to rebuild after tragedy strikes. The ZAKA organization is no stranger to tragedy, and their role in sustaining the sanctity of the body and soul of those struck down by unnatural circumstances is a kindness that can never be matched or repaid.  First at the scene and always the last to leave ZAKA members ensure the proper rituals of collection are performed at any disaster site in keeping with Jewish tradition.  As long as terror continues to plague our Nation, ZAKA will continue to ensure its sanctity.

Jerusalem Daily Photo

We marvel at the words of the prophet Ezekiel who describes the desolate cities becoming inhabited as we see today in Noam Chen's photo of Tel Aviv, with the Mediterranean in the distance. Tel Aviv is Israel's second most populous city, after Jerusalem.
