Workers Say They Won’t Serve Trump Officials
Leftists bragged about their plans to discriminate against people who dare to disagree with them politically, telling the outlet about their plans to make life difficult for Trump administration officials. This is no surprise considering Democrat leadership has already begun trying to make life more difficult for the Trump administration, especially because of their outrage over his cabinet picks.
National Democratic Club manager and D.C. restaurant veteran Zac Hoffman told the outlet: “You expect the masses to just ignore RFK eating at Le Diplomate on a Sunday morning after a few mimosas and not to throw a drink in his face?”
Hoffman stated that he is concerned about safety risks for members of the Trump administration, restaurant staff, and even other people dining near Trump team members.
One bartender at a fine-dining establishment, who requested anonymity, claimed that members of the Trump administration “theoretically [have] the power to take away your rights, but I have the power to make you wait 20 minutes to get your entrée.”
“There’s a lot of opportunities for us as workers to feel like we’re taking our power back, while not necessarily ruining someone’s life,” the bartender added. “Giving them a subtle inconvenience feels like a little bit of a win for us.”
She also vowed to quit her job if the restaurant management dared to push back against her discrimination.“There is power in making it known that you’re not comfortable with a situation, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be this big dramatic show,” the bartender told the outlet. “It’s just little bits of resistance that add up, and little bits of resistance that other people will see and hopefully feel empowered to stand on those convictions as well.”
Suzannah Van Rooy, a server and manager at Beuchert’s Saloon on Capitol Hill, told the Washingtonian that she plans to refuse service to Trump administration members because they are “trying to deport millions of people.”
“It’s not, ‘Oh, we hate Republicans.’ It’s that this person has moral convictions that are strongly opposed to mine, and I don’t feel comfortable serving them,” Van Rooy claimed.
Another anonymous restaurant employee told the outlet that she would not outright refuse to serve Trump administration officials, but she plans to intentionally make their dining experiences unpleasant.
“I’ll only give them a bad table but will otherwise guarantee decent and polite service. I feel like them getting a bad table is nothing compared to the harm they’ll be inflicting,” she claimed.
Meanwhile, at least one restaurant employee was actually happy about President-elect Donald Trump’s victory, despite having voted for Kamala Harris. The bartender, only identified as Joseph, noted that Republicans leave better tips.
“I think my tip average from Republicans—at least ones that I or a coworker has recognized—is close to 30 percent. With Dems, I’m surprised if it’s over 20,” he told the outlet.
