The majority of the shootings took place on the West Side of town. Police said they would increase their presence in the area because of activity on Friday and Saturday.

The latest Gresham shooting happened about 4 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 85th Street. A 23-year-old man was shot in the right thigh. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Police believe the shooting was gang-related.
Another shooting took place on South Ashland Avenue at noon when a man was sitting outside, "heard shots and felt pain." He was taken to a hospital and listed in good condition. Shortly after that, a 24-year-old man was shot in West Pullman. The victim was engaging in an argument and then shot in the right thigh.
Other victims of the violence this weekend include Veronica Lopez,15, who was shot and killed while she was a passenger in a car driving on Lake Shore Drive and a 25-year-old man was shot and killed while he was sitting in a parked vehicle on West 75th street.
