Bernie Sanders got his top advisors together on Saturday for a meeting which included a look at at another run at the presidency in the 2020 cycle.
According to Politico, he was told that he'd be a frontrunner for the Democratic nomination and should start preparing seriously now if he wants to run. According to insiders, Sanders believes that the most important thing is beating Trump and wants to be ready if he decides to run. He also asked him team to determine what the 2020 field might look like. In 2016, his key opponent was much more clear. He consistently polls well, which is fairly terrifying and shows how little the average voter understands about socialism.
The 76 year-old senator and his team were also looking nearer-term. Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ campaign manager and top political adviser said “The senator is extremely focused on making sure the Democrats win in 2018 and that is the primary goal right now: to retake the House and retake the Senate so we can stop this horrendous Trump agenda.”
It's good to remember that, while 2020 is going to be wild, we still have to get through the midterms.
