Donald Trump is a racist. How do we know? The New York Times is keeping tabs and has given us “The Definitive List.”
Thanks to NYT sleuths David Leonhardt and Ian Prasad Philbrick, we now have proof positive that Trump hates people of all brown hues. Together they gathered 36 instances of “racism” by Trump. We have to put that in quotes because some of the examples they used are simply laughable.
According to Leonhardt, he and Philbrick began to compile the list but had to reach out the NYT readers to help them find enough. They could only find 36 terrible examples. But that doesn’t stop them from promoting the list as “definitive:"
Last night, speaking to reporters on his way into the golf club he owns in Palm Beach, Fla., President Trump proclaimed himself “the least racist person you will ever interview.” That’s right: Of all the world’s billions of people, Donald Trump sees himself as the one who is least affected by another person’s race.
The more than 40 years that Trump has spent as a public figure tells a different story, of course. He has shown himself to be obsessed with race for that entire time.In Friday’s newsletter, I included a handful of his racist comments and asked readers which I had missed. With your help, my colleagues and I have put together an attempt at the definitive list of his racist comments — or at least the publicly known ones.
The report begins with accusations that Trump treated his black renters and casino employees differently as far back as the ‘70s. They include a quote, but it’s not directly from Trump, but a “source.” They cite Trump’s call in 1989 to bring back the death penalty over a New York City rape trial. That same year, Trump said educated blacks have certain advantages afforded them through programs. That’s not racist, that’s just the truth. Affirmative Action gives blacks advantages over whites.
They quickly move to the campaign and Trump’s immigration reforms. If he said anything about illegal aliens, even though it was true, that qualified him as a racist in the NYT’s eyes.
Oh, and when he has criticized President Obama — racist! Why? Because he called him “a terrible student.” No, really. Somehow that’s racist.
Is Trump racist for mocking Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has falsely claimed she’s Native American, as “Pocahontas? Of course!
The list is almost comical if it weren’t published in what once a widely respected paper.
But for the NYT, they have all the evidence they need:
The media often falls back on euphemisms when describing Trump’s comments about race: racially loaded, racially charged, racially tinged, racially sensitive. I understand why, too. It’s better to err on the side of caution with something as explosive as the r-word.But the truth is clear: Donald Trump is a racist.
