Stop the Presses! CNN Reports on Obama's Favorite Songs of 2017

While a potentially world-changing revolution takes place in Iran, CNN is busy covering the really vital topics -- such as former community organizer Barack Obama's favorite books and songs of the past year. The article reeks of the sycophantic news media's nostalgia for the halcyon days of Obama's presidency.
"Freed from the daily pressures of the presidency, Barack Obama seems to have filled the time with reading and music," the puff piece begins, noting that on New Year's Eve, Obama listed "what books and songs he's been consuming in a Facebook post."
Inquiring minds want to know. Not.
Among his reading selections: "politically charged novels" like The Power, by Naomi Alderman, "which depicts a dystopian world where women can emit deadly electrical jolts," and Exit West by Mohsin Hamid, which "tells the story of refugees transported from their war-torn country through magical portals."
Who needs magical portals when you have open-borders refugee policies of the sort Obama encouraged, as in Angela Merkel's Germany?
In yet another blow to Hillary Clinton's literary legacy, Obama's reading list did not include her recent election postmortem, What Happened.
Obama himself has been writing another book -- or at least having another one ghostwritten (Bill Ayers needs something to do) -- expected to be released by Penguin Random House in 2018. Try to contain your excitement.
CNN manages to take a jab at Trump while they're at it, noting that he "has said he doesn't have time to read books" and that "[l]ike Obama, [Trump has] spent a substantial amount of time at the golf course."
The difference is that Trump is managing to make America great again between rounds on the course.
For those eager to know what music "gets [Obama] moving," CNN reports that his song selection "mirrors the hopeful tone he has been striking during a time of political turmoil," and shows "that the former POTUS is still connecting with America's youth."
Except for the rising number of America's youth that are connecting with Donald Trump and conservatism, but CNN doesn't care about them.
Obama's fave songs include "anthems" from Harry Styles and U2 that "are optimistic and reflective — two trademark characteristics of Obama's own speeches as President."
The song list also includes, predictably, rap numbers from such recording "artists" as Young Thug, Chance the Rapper and DJ Khaled, as well as a track from Obama's fundraising buddy and former drug dealer Jay-Z, husband to cop-hating, Black Lives Matter promoter Beyonce (both pictured above).
The article also notes, irrelevantly, that Obama "took to Twitter on Friday to 'remind us what's best about America.'"
"As we count down to the new year, we get to reflect and prepare for what's ahead," he tweeted. "For all the bad news that seemed to dominate our collective consciousness, there are countless stories from this year that remind us what's best about America."
Maybe CNN could remind Obama that what's best about America is our nation's exceptionalism, a concept which Obama denigrated and which President Trump has revived.
