Dear Carl, Tomorrow, December 1, the United States Supreme Court will hear arguments on Mississippi's 2018 pro-life law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The case is Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.
It could very well lead the Court to overturn its 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade.
For the first time in nearly 50 years, there is great hope that the United States of America could return to the biblical and constitutional view that unborn children are human beings created by God, and that the federal government has no right to sanction their abortion.
In a brief to the Court filed by Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch, she says "The national fever on abortion can break only when this Court returns abortion policy to the states. It is time for the Court to set this right and return this political debate to the political branches of government." Fitch also reminded the Court that the science of the womb has evolved so much since Roe was decided.
AFA was on the front lines in Mississippi to help pass this 15-week abortion ban into law by alerting grass roots activists in the state to urge the legislature and governor to pass it. While abolishing abortion is the goal of AFA, we continue to fight for laws that will save as many unborn children as possible. Legislation like this is in alignment with AFA's core value on the sanctity of human life that "upholds the truth that all human beings, including the unborn, are created in the image of God and are worthy of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
TAKE ACTION
I want to urge you to pray for this Supreme Court decision. Pray that the Spirit of God will move the justices to overturn the decades old abortion ruling in Roe v. Wade.
Here is a sample prayer that may help you as you pray: Lord Jesus, I grieve inside when I think of the millions of lives lost to legalized abortion in our nation. My heart aches for the mothers and families of the unborn children, whose lives have been deeply scarred by abortion.
We know each life is precious in Your sight, knitted together in the womb. Help us as a nation to return to the faith of our fathers in recognizing that life is sacred.
Lord, please forgive our nation of this sin and send your Holy Spirit upon the Supreme Court justices, leading them to rule in favor of life and of protecting the most innocent lives, the unborn. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen. |
